Austin Rose is a Forest Restoration Coordinator on the collaborative American Forests/U.S. Forest Service team that is helping restore the Fremont-Winema National Forest in south-central Oregon after several seasons of intense wildfires. While not having a direct background in forestry, Austin brings an array of experiences to his team having previously taught environmental education courses as an assistant park ranger at South Mountains State Park, conducted lab and field work as both a honeybee and bumblebee research technician at NC State and ND State respectively, and led a diverse team through many festivals and weekly farmers markets as an event production manager. He received his Bachelor of Fisheries, Conservation, and Wildlife Biology with a minor in Entomology from North Carolina State University, and is a member of Xi Sigma Pi Forestry Honor Society.
